Thoroughbreds is about two upper-class teenage girls (Olivia Cooke and Anya Taylor-Joy) who rekindle a friendship after growing apart over many years. One of them is completely aloof, feeling virtually nothing for anybody. The other is over emotional. They hatch a plan to murder the oppressive step-father and hire Anton Yelchin to do the deed.
The trailer looks hilarious. They had me the moment they called it a cross between Heathers and American Psycho. I cannot wait to see it.

A Wrinkle In Time: Madeline L’Engle’s classic book gets a big-budget adaptation starring Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon, Mindy Paling, Chris Pine, and a gaggle of others. It bombed at the box office and got little critical love. My wife loves the book so no doubt I’ll be seeing it soon.
Avatar The Last Airbender: The Complete Series: Anime series that everyone says is awesome, which I keep meaning to check out, gets a new complete collection.
The Hurricane Heist: Rob Cohen directs Maggie Grace in this heist fleck set against a massive hurricane. Talk about giving your plot away in the title.
Gringo: Charlize Theron, Joel Edgerton, Amanda Seyfried, and Thandie Newton star in this comedic thriller about a mild-mannered business man who finds himself at the mercy of backstabbing colleagues, drug lords, and black-op mercenaries.
The Big Country: Kino Lorber delivers a nice 60th anniversary edition of this classic western directed by William Wyler and starring Gregory Peck, Jean Simmons, Charlton Heston, and Burl Ives. Read my full review.
