I’ve never heard of the Wandering Ginza Butterfly movies, but seeing that they star Meiko Kaji, I’m immediately on board. Kaji starred in a ton of movies and TV series, but she is primarily known as Scorpion in the Prisoner Scorpion 701 movies (which I reviewed) and as Lady Snowblood in two films. Those films are all (mostly) terrific, and Meiko Kaji is awesome.
Buy Wandering Ginza Butterfly CollectionIn the Wandering Ginza Butterfly films, she stars as a former high-ranking Yakuza member who, after a stint in jail, leaves the organization and becomes a hostess at a Ginza club. Naturally, problems arise, and she’ll find herself ensnared in violence and revenge. That sounds amazing, and with Kaji starring, I’m excited to check these out and happy to make them this week’s pick.
