San Diego Comic Con 2024: Sunday Preview

San Diego Comic Con returns to the San Diego Convention Center and surrounding area. Sunday’s programming schedule has been revealed and a couple Sentries who are attending will be sharing their thoughts on the panels they hope to attend at the convention. But will they? Only time and their post-convention posts will tell. You can follow them on X: Gordon S. Miller and Shawn Bourdo.

Godzilla: Minus One’s Path (of Destruction) to an Oscar Win – 11:30am – 12:30pm – Room 25ABC

Godzilla: Minus One broke records and achieved cultural and historical significance but it was a journey that took more than a decade in the making. Join a lively discussion with Jessica Tseang (pop culture speaker, The History Channel, The Kaiju Kingdom Podcast) with special guests on the history of the visual effects company that made this happen, and the collective effort of director Takashi Yamazaki’s team. From Godzilla: Minus One’s music, to the script, this film was hailed a masterpiece by A-List directors. Discover how Space Battleship Yamato, Doraemon, Lupin III, and a Godzilla theme park ride all factor into the journey that ultimately led to the Oscar and multi award-winning success that is Godzilla: Minus One. This panel will have a giveaway

I have an obsession with this film since seeing it months ago on the big screen. Learning more about how it was made is on brand for me.

Needful Things: Collecting Stephen King -1:00pm – 2:00pm – Room 29AB

Hans-Åke Lilja (author/owner, Lilja’s Library: The World of Stephen King), Robert Wiener (president, Donald M. Grant Publisher), David Williamson (owner, Betts Books online S. King resale store), Tomas Krynsky (owner, SKCollector.com), Jerome Smith (owner, TheDarkTower.org) and Jesse Lankford (fanboy/moderator) share their passions for collecting rare and limited edition books by the world’s number-one-selling horror author, Stephen King.

Buy Night Shift book

I’m a fan of Stephen King. Maybe even bordering on super-fan. I’m just not a “collector” even though I own multiple versions of many of the books. I can’t compete with these folks, and I love hearing their passion for the author.

Food Network’s Chef Duff Goldman: Creativity and Baking – 3:00pm – 4:00pm – Grand 12 & 13, Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina

Jessica Tseang (The History Channel, Eisner Awards judge 2022) and celebrity chef Duff Goldman (Food Network, Duff x Baketivity) discuss his love for Star Wars, fandoms, the changing landscape of the culinary world, and what inspires his day-to-day creativity.

Buy Duff Bakes: Think and Bake Like a Pro at Home book

Because it’s fun to know more about superfans that have interesting day jobs, I want to hear what Duff has to say. A good way to end an interesting journey of the 2024 San Diego Comic Con.

Sunday and the Con are both a wrap.
