- Actor, podcaster, collector and former Collector’s Call guest Ralph Garman moderated the Friday panel featuring host Lisa Whelchel, Weigel Broadcasting’s Vice Chairman Neal Sabin and Collector’s Call experts Rob and Jennifer Klein and Matt Weinhold. “Being part of San Diego Comic-Con for our very first Collector’s Call panel, and celebrating the nostalgia of bringing back family television events like The Wizard of Oz, was so much fun,” said Lisa Whelchel. “I’m always fascinated by collectors and the passion they have for the things they treasure. Meeting fans during the autograph session was especially meaningful, and experiencing the excitement and energy of the Comic-Con floor in person was truly unforgettable.”
- Whelchel revealed exciting news: She will host MeTV’s broadcast premiere of The Wizard of Oz, which kicks off MeTV’s incredible October schedule. Inside the film, MeTV will present “The Wonderful World of Oz.” In these original vignettes viewers will see amazing museum-quality heirlooms and meet experts, performers, and designers who all have had a hand in bringing Oz’s stories to screen, stage, and page.
- Fans also received a first look at an all-new October episode of Collector’s Call featuring collector Tori Calamito, one of the nation’s leading authorities on The Wizard of Oz. Her collection of Oz memorabilia spans more than a century – from a first edition Oz book to stage-worn costumes from the Wicked musical and autographs of the stars of the 1939 movie.

- Comedian, writer and longtime monster movie fan Dana Gould moderated the Saturday panel with horror host Rich Koz (Svengoolie), Svengoolie executive producer Jim Roche, and the Sven Squad: Bill Leff as Nostalgiaferatoo, Sarah Palmer as Gwengoolie and Scott Gryder as IMP.
- The crew announced a special Svengoolie showcase of The Wizard of Oz and Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956) as part of this year’s BOO-nanza movie lineup, which also includes Berserk (1967), Revenge of the Creature (1955) and Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark (1973) on House of Svengoolie.
