Unfortunately, I won’t be able to make the first day of the inaugural Fandemic Tour due to getting off work late. But I will be making the second day, which is Saturday, June 23, at the Sacramento Convention Center. Here are the panels I plan on attending. This is subject to change, as is the case with all conventions.
12:00 p.m.
Building Star Wars with the 501st Legion
Location: Stage Two
The 501st Legion is an all-volunteer organization formed for the express purpose of bringing together costume enthusiasts under a collective identity within which to operate. The Legion seeks to promote interest in Star Wars through the building and wearing of quality costumes with the support of Disney/LFL, and to facilitate the use of these costumes for Star Wars-related events as well as contributions to the local community through costumed charity and volunteer work with the community.
I’ve seen the 501st Legion at other conventions, and they are always fun to watch walk around the area. I’m not exactly sure of what this panel will consist, but it almost sounds like people get to build Star Wars-related things. That would be awesome.
02:00 p.m.
Horror & Zombies within Pop Culture and Cosplay
Location: Stage Two
We produce family-friendly community events, after hours nightclub parties, haunts and horror concept events, as well as film, television, and various internet media. Zombie Club has collaborated with the likes of San Francisco Dungeon, Monsterpalooza, and several large Comic-Con and Pop Culture Conventions.
Although it’s absent from the description, I have a feeling this will be an in-depth discussion about how zombies have made an impact in pop culture with the Zombie Club. Although I’m not the biggest zombie fanatic, I’m interested to hear what will be discussed.
03:00 p.m.
Spotlight: Robert Englund
Location: Main Stage
I’m a big fan of Robert Englund, and I’ve yet to see the Nightmare on Elm Street star speak. So, of course, I’ll be checking this out.
04:00 p.m.
Spotlight: Bruce Campbell
Location: Main Stage
During Bruce Campbell’s panel, fans don’t ask him questions. Instead, he brings select fans onstage with him and asks them the questions. I saw him at a prior convention, and his unique approach was a blast to watch. So, of course, I will be in attendance, and, maybe, I will try to get onstage with him.
07:00 p.m.
Costume Contest, hosted by Jason David Frank and Clare Kramer
Location: Main Stage
This is a great opportunity to see all the costumes people are wearing. Sure, I can see most of them walking around the convention, but there are usually a few that I miss. This is how I be sure to see practically all of them.
