Denny Tedesco introduced the world to the Wrecking Crew with the release of his film of the same name. Now Tedesco has made a follow-up to that doc and is introducing the world to the Immediate Family with his new film titled, Immediate Family. These musicians came about with the rise in popularity of the singer-songwriter, backing such acts as James Taylor; Stevie Nicks; Phil Collins; Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young; and so many others. You may not think you have heard them, but you have, you absolutely have.
Also known as the legendary studio ensemble, “The Section,” the Immediate Family is comprised of guitarist and vocalist Danny Kortchmar, guitarist and vocalist Waddy Wachtel, bassist Leland Sklar, drummer Russ Kunkel, and guitarist and vocalist Steve Postell. These incredible talents were some of the first musicians to have their contributions credited on the albums they played on. These credits would change the trajectory of their careers and lives forever.
In addition to being session musicians, they also came of age when touring became a big part of the way records were sold beginning in the 1970s. So these men were not only were stars in the studio, but they got to be stars on the stage as well.
Immediate Family documentary is a star-studded film filled with interviews from these musicians as well as a cavalcade of the superstar singer-songwriters they have played with over the years. Tedesco also includes archival footage and photographs from life in the studio as well as life on the road. This documentary is a must-watch for lovers of music and music history.
