Being a woman can be really challenging. Some days you and your sister just need to go to the beach to get away. Then look, you find a pair of beautiful medallions! Lucky you! But of course there’s a catch, you now find yourself answering the call of Madame Sosostris to combat evil. Figures. But now you get to fly, fire weapons, and defeat bad guys while still finding time to date. This is where the Ambar and Alana, the “Santos Sisters,” find themselves in the beginning of this five-issue collection, Santos Sisters, Volume 1 by Greg the artist and Fake the writer.
Buy Santos Sisters Vol. 1While the Santos Sisters may have the look of more innocent books like Archie Comics, the writing and subjects are definitely intended for a more mature audience. The look and feel of the volume triggered my nostalgia, but I absolutely loved this series for more than a trip down memory lane. This collected volume was a fun and engaging read that had me laughing in a lot of places while also loving the action. The writing and scenes are efficient, and the jokes come quickly and land well.
Whether you are an avid comic reader or are just looking for a fun and funny read, the Santos Sisters, Volume 1 is worth adding to your collection. I am looking forward to more adventures with Ambar and Alana in the future.
