Here are a few highlights where you might find three Sentries who will be attending.
Shawn Bourdo:
Happy Birthday, Frankenstein (10:00am) (Room7AB)
There’s a heavy reliance on panels to do with movies and television shows. There’s still even a fair amount of panels celebrating actual printed comic books. I love to go to the ones that acknowledge the influence of other media. This panel talks about the 200th Anniversary of Frankenstein. An intelligent talk on the novel is exactly the type of thing that excites me at this convention.
This Is Your Life, Jonny Quest (11:30am) (Room5AB)
In the history of cartoons, this has been a constant favorite. The revamps have usually missed what made the original so fascinating. They get the characters wrong or the plots. At its best, the show solved mysteries like Scooby-Doo and celebrated family like The Flintstones. The panel here is made up of some very renowned cartoon historians like Jerry Beck and it should make for an informative panel.
Sid & Marty Krofft Pictures (2:00pm) (Room23ABC)
It’s been a couple years since I’ve seen the brothers. Theis used to be a panel that I’d never miss. I know they’ll pass away at some point and I’ll be sad that I didn’t hear as many of their stories as I could. But recently their stories have been pretty recycled. And their new show that they promote, Mutt & Stuff, is aimed at a much younger audience without the adult appeal of H.R. Pufnstuf. Still, I want to catch up with them again this year.

With my morning free of panels, I am going to hit the Exhibition Hall. I’ll be on the look out for books I need to fill the holes in collection and hoping not to fall in love with too many new things I didn’t know I needed.
Explore the Wonders of the Universe with Cosmos: Possible Worlds (3:00pm) (Indigo Ballroom)
Not only is truth stranger than fiction, but some times it can be more amazing as well. So I am looking forward to see what host Neil deGrasse Tyson and the executive producers have planned for the second season of this non-fiction series.
Batman: The Animated Series on Blu-ray (4:15pm) (6DE)
One of the most anticipated releases of the year, the acclaimed animated series is making its way to high-definition and the team behind the series will be on hand to reveal details.
Elfquest: 40 Years of Pointed Ears (6:00pm) (23ABC)
I have long been aware of Wendy and Richard Pini’s Elfquest series, but it wasn’t until a couple of years ago that I started reading the first two collected works released by Dark Horse Comics, but since I am so far behind I am not sure how long I’ll stay for fear of having stories spoiled during the discussion.
Twin Peaks and the Revival of a Cult Classic (8:00pm) (Indigo Ballroom)
Cast members of the original and new series are on hand to share stories of working on the show, but surely there’s only so much of Lynch’s mysteries that they can reveal or maybe even understand themselves.
Todd Karella:
Saturday is usually the busiest day of the convention. And it always has the most shows and panels going on. So, the best thing to do is to get into one of the three biggest rooms and expect to camp out there all day. That would be Hall H, Ballroom 20, or the Indigo Ballroom. I plan it a little differently than the others.
Hall H
I can’t believe there isn’t too much going on in this room during the day. Are there some surprise secret panels going to happen? Since I don’t know and would rather see things that I know are going to be there I’ll probably avoid it today. The only two I’d want to see would be:
Deadpool 2 Panel (5:15pm)
An Evening with Kevin Smith (6:45pm)
Ballroom 20
It looks like all the good panels that I want to see are in this room. Since this room is smaller than Hall H, I’m imagining it going to be quite difficult to get into these panels. It’s normally bad, but with so little in Hall H, more people will be heading this way. So, plan to go early and wait in line for a long time.
Black Lightning Special Video Presentation and Q&A (11:00am)
See my review for Season One and you can see why I’m looking forward to this panel. I’m not sure why it’s separated out so far from the other CW panels, but since I watch them all, I’m going to try to see as many as I can.
The Simpsons (12:00pm)
Never seen the cast of The Simpsons before, so it would be nice to see.
American Dad (1:00pm) & Family Guy (1:45pm)
Why just these two in this room? I like them both, but it seems strange that Seth MacFarlane’s The Orville is over in the Indigo Ballroom.
The Gifted (2:30pm)
The X-Men have disappeared, and all mutants are being hunted by the sentinels. A small group of freedom fighters is all that is left to stand up for mutants. The story follows the Strucker family when their kids suddenly develop powers and find themselves on the run.

It’s time for the rest of the superhero shows on the CW to appear. Although I have seen most of the cast members at different panels and events over the years, they are always entertaining. And one thing I like about them is that they actually answer questions. Unlike some panels, they don’t just clam up and refuse to talk about the next season. While they don’t give complete spoilers, they give enough away to make you excited about what’s to come.
Indigo Ballroom
NBC’s The Good Place (11:00pm)
A show about four people trapped in the afterlife. It’s a cute comedy starring Kirsten Bell and Ted Danson that is a fun and unusual comedy.
Krypton (12:00pm)
Superman had a family back on Krypton before it exploded, and this is their story. A little more drama then I’d like but it picked up the pace towards the end of the season. Looking forward to getting some insights on where Season Two will be headed.
The Orville (4:00pm)
Seth MacFarlane’s version of what the new Star Trek series should have been. Of course, it is a little more comical than a traditional Trek, but the topics and underlying messages in the episodes have been right on track for what makes Star Trek good.
