Today's is a good day if you like superheroes.
The Merry Marvel Movie Marathon is currently rolling along across the United States, as the films featuring the solo outings of Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, and Captain America lead into a mdnight screening of Marvel's The Avengers. Before that final film begins, it will be preceded by the third trailer for The Dark Knight Rises, which made its way onto the Internet a few days ago.
Not wanting to be left out of the superhero hype, Sony has debuted the third trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man on the Internet also and it is available below.
The action looks like it should impress, and the scene where Spider-Man feigns fear from the hood with the knife nails the character's wit.
What's most interesting is the change in the character's origin. Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) is no longer someone who was in the wrong place at the right time, as first told by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko in Amazing Spider-Man #15. Instead, his father, Richard (Campbell Scott), appears to be responsible for Peter's transformation, and Richard's former colleague, Dr Curt Conners (Rhys Ifans), who will become the Lizard, knows all about it.
I haven't kept up with the comics in decades so I don't know where these ideas come from (and feel free to clarify in the comments if you know), but I am open to the change and am curious where it will lead in this film and the ones to follow.
What do you think of the trailer?
