Press release: Mystery and intrigue rules getTV this January as the network kicks off a month-long salute to the Boston Blackie franchise. The Chester Morris starring films start New Year’s Day with a triple feature and continue throughout the month on select nights and Saturday mornings. On Thursday, Jan. 1, the Boston Blackie marathon begins at 8 p.m. ET, as Morris tracks an ocean liner murder to a Coney Island spy ring in MEET BOSTON BLACKIE; then, Boston Blackie investigates an art gallery murder in CONFESSIONS OF BOSTON BLACKIE; and Blackie helps a wrongly convicted prisoner in 1942’s ALIAS BOSTON BLACKIE.

On Tuesday, January 6, getTV celebrates actor, composer, and producer Ernie Kovacs, with a double feature starting at 7 p.m. ET. Kovacs’ petty thief gets double-crossed by wealthy widow Cyd Charisse in the crime comedy FIVE GOLDEN HOURS. Then, Captain Kovacs braves the high seas with Robert Wagner’s smooth criminal in the 1962 farce SAIL A CROOKED SHIP.

Friday Icons puts the spotlight on your favorite cinematic legends all month long, at 7 p.m. ET. The lineup features Oscar-winner Loretta Young in THE STRANGER with Orson Welles, BEDTIME STORY with Fredric March, and THE DOCTOR TAKES A WIFE with Ray Milland (January 9); beloved leading man Cary Grant as a shady promoter in the 1944 fantasy ONCE UPON A TIME, and WALK, DON’T RUN (January 16); Oscar® winning actor Ernest Borgnine in MAN ON A STRING with Kerwin Mathews, and THE OSCAR with Elke Sommer and Milton Berle (January 23); and the sultry Jean Simmons in A BULLET IS WAITING with Rory Calhoun, and the blackmail thriller FOOTSTEPS IN THE FOG with Stewart Granger (January 30).

And getTV presents classic masterpieces in the Silver Screen Favorites block, every Sunday at 7 p.m. ET. Lloyd Bridges’ prizefighter woos Kim Stanley’s troubled starlet in THE GODDESS (January 4); Oscar®-winning songstress Barbra Streisand shines in the acclaimed drama THE WAY WE WERE with Robert Redford, and the swingin’ ‘70s comedy THE OWL AND THE PUSSYCAT with George Segal (January 11); and Gary Cooper and Barbara Stanwyck in the Frank Capra comedy MEET JOHN DOE (January 18).
