The one panel I was most disappointed in missing out on at Comic-Con 2012 was for FX's Archer, my favorite comedy currently on the air. In attendance this year, seated from left to right in the photo below, were creator Adam Reed (who also provides the voice for Ray Gillette), H. Jon Benjamin (Sterling Archer), Aisha Tyler (Lana Kane), Amber Nash (Pam Poovey), and Chris Parnell (Cyril Figgis). Those folks are always a riot and usually bring an episode from the upcoming season. This year was no different, but fear not because through the magic of the Internet you too may witness the panel.
For those who don't know Archer and its outrageous sense of humor, which is unfortunate for you, the series is a crazy mix of Cold War spy games crossed with bizarre, modern-day office politics. The title character is Sterling Archer, a mix of James Bond and Inspector Clouseau. He works for the agency known as ISIS and his boss is his mother Malory (Jessica Walter), which cause complications, particularly when he encounters one of her many lovers, both past and present.
Adding to the awkwardness in the workplace, his former girlfriend Lana is an agent, and she used to date ISIS comptroller Cyril Figgis, who slept with Malory's receptionist Cheryl Tunt (Judy Greer). Pam, possibly one of the worst Human Resources Directors to ever hold the title, has had sex with most of the main characters, both male and female, including Sterling this past season, who called it the best sex he ever had.
Not only does the panel video reveal the cast seems well suited for the series' humor, but fans will learn the fourth season is going to include an undersea battle; Mallory is getting married to car dealer Ron Cadillac, voiced by Walters' real-life husband Ron Leibman; and the return of Sterling's nemesis Barry, who was trapped on a space station when last seen. Enjoy.
