Cinema Sentries have teamed up with Applause Books to give one lucky reader a prize pack that features Horror Films FAQ and Armageddon Films FAQ.

Available from booksellers on October 15 and reviewed by Jade Blackmore, Horror Films FAQ by John Kenneth Muir tells readers "All That’s Left to Know About Slashers, Vampires, Zombies, Aliens, and More."  Muir looks at different subgenres and eras of horror filmmaking to reach a larger understanding of the circumstances that produced these films. The history of the horror film is truly the history of fear in the world, so fears and the movies that embody them morph with the changing times: the women’s liberation horrors of the 1970s, the rubber reality films of the late 1980s, the serial killers of the 1990s, the xenophobic terrors of the 9/11 age, and even the 3D revolution’s release of John Luessenhop’s Texas Chainsaw (2013).

Available from booksellers on October 28, Armageddon Films FAQ by Dale Sherman tells readers "All That's Left to Know About Zombies, Contagions, Aliens, and the End of the World as We Know It!"  Sherman goes from the silent days of filmmaking to the most recent (literally) earth-shattering epics, from cinema to television and even the novels, from comedies to dramas, from supernatural to scientific. It also explores other aspects of the genre, such as iconic but unfilmable apocalyptic novels, postnuclear car-racing flicks, domestic dramas disguised as end-of-the-world actioners, and more - from the most depressing to the happiest Armageddons ever!
